Mercury Retrograde All 3 Phases - April-May 2025 - 'Written Article'

Mercury Enters into Pre-Shadow - March 1 2025 at 7:45 GMT

As Mercury enters his pre-shadow phase, he will be positioned at 4 degrees in Pisces—the very degree to which he will later retrograde back to.

Mercury is particularly unsettled during this initial phase of his retrograde and fares no better in the second. In Pisces, he tends to drift into deep thought, often feeling confused and disoriented. The line between reality and fantasy becomes blurred, making it difficult for him to think clearly. This murkiness can lead to boundary issues, making this period particularly challenging.

His conjunction with the Moon, Neptune, and the North Node only amplifies this frustration. Ideas may come across as irrational or vague, and heightened sensitivity can cause emotions to override reason. With an overactive imagination, small concerns may be exaggerated into overwhelming obstacles, leading him into a realm where logic is distorted. Establishing firm boundaries will be essential during this time, and practices such as deep breathing and grounding exercises can provide much-needed stability under this stellium’s influence.

On the other hand, Mercury's sextile aspect to Uranus, Pluto, and Pallas brings heightened psychic activity. Those attuned to such experiences will recognise the importance of timing—knowing when to share insights so they are received with clarity. However, some individuals may dismiss these intuitive revelations, as they often lie beyond conventional understanding. Even the most gifted seers may find themselves perceived as irrational, yet, as the saying goes, "there is method in the madness"—a sentiment that strongly applies to this phase of Mercury’s retrograde.

For those receiving these psychic downloads, patience will be key. It may not be until Mercury’s post-shadow phase that clarity emerges, allowing predictions and insights to be effectively communicated, free from the haze of confusion.

A Grand Trine will form on the day Mercury enters his pre-shadow phase, infused with the energy of Air—an element closely tied to mental and intellectual processes. This aspect, involving the Sun, Mars, and Pallas, will also see Mercury in trine with Juno, further emphasising the need for patience. Diverse perspectives may be met with resistance, making it important to channel profound insights into alternative courses of action. There is also a cautionary note: the risk of being misled by those we typically trust to guide us. Keeping a journal to document thoughts, feelings, and insights will be invaluable, allowing for later reflection when the mental fog lifts.

Additionally, Black Moon Lilith will be in opposition to Venus, signalling potential challenges in relationships or financial matters. A sense of unease may arise, particularly if we feel our needs are not being met.

Mercury Retrograde Begins – March 15 2025 at 6:47 GMT

Mercury will begin his retrograde at 17 degrees in Pisces, where brain fog remains a persistent issue. Expressing oneself—whether verbally or creatively—feels particularly challenging. Original ideas may struggle to take shape, as Mercury's conjunction with Venus introduces a fickleness of mind. Meanwhile, Mercury's opposition to the Moon distorts clear thinking, triggering unconscious emotional patterns that create restlessness, friction, and irritation in social interactions. However, these tensions are likely to be minor and trivial. Sensitivity to criticism may also be heightened, leading to miscommunication and further confusion.

Mercury’s sextile to Jupiter brings an overly optimistic outlook, particularly in areas like marketing and abstract thinking. However, timing is not in our favour. The insights we receive now may not prove useful until later. Adding to this intensity, Black Moon Lilith’s opposition to Chiron signals the resurfacing of deep wounds, leaving those affected feeling as though all hope is lost. Chiron’s square to Mars further inflames emotional tensions, and with the Lunar Eclipse in Leo occurring just the day before, triggers ego-driven reactions.

The Stellium formed by the Sun, Saturn, Neptune, and the North Node can bring moments of inspiration and upliftment, but in excess, it risks leading to burnout or depletion. Following the crowd without discernment may result in negative consequences, as addiction or unhealthy habits could lead to aimless drifting. While the Saturn-Neptune conjunction (not yet exact) offers the potential for deep spiritual insight and focus, the current planetary haze makes it difficult to access this clarity just yet. These two planets will reach their exact conjunction in May 2025, bringing opportunities for growth, though there may also be hidden agendas or secrecy that could dampen any initial optimism once revealed. Endurance will be necessary to navigate these chaotic energies.

Pluto’s sextile to this Stellium provides an opportunity to tap into its high-frequency energy, though karma will be the guiding force. It’s important to be mindful of overexertion, as a strong sense of endurance and responsibility may drive us forward even when we are physically or emotionally depleted. Channeling this energy into creative pursuits or gentle movement practices like tai chi or yoga can help dispel stagnation and maintain balance during this dynamic period.

Additionally, Pluto’s sextile to Neptune within this Stellium, along with Uranus in Taurus, highlights generational aspects tied to collective karma and mass destiny. The urge to push forward may feel compelling, but it’s essential to direct our energy wisely. Psychic activity, particularly telepathic communication, will be highly active during this time.

Mercury Retrograde Ends, Post-shadow Begins – April 7 2025 at 12:08 GMT

As Mercury’s retrograde comes to an end and the post-shadow phase begins, he returns to 4 degrees Pisces—the very degree where his pre-shadow phase started. This marks a turning point, bringing a welcome sense of relief, as Mercury is in a much better position at this stage of his journey.

Mercury’s conjunction with Venus, Saturn, and the South Node allows for more effective and harmonious communication. Thoughts become clearer, and expression feels more natural. Saturn’s influence grants discipline and focus, while Venus brings a touch of creative persuasion. Though progress may be slow and methodical, this offers the patience and structure needed to evaluate ongoing tasks or circumstances with care.

However, the South Node’s presence in this Stellium may cause us to become too comfortable in familiar routines, potentially hindering progress if we resist new ideas or perspectives. Saturn’s influence also brings an element of skepticism, yet given the karmic nature of both the South Node and Saturn, we must remember not to settle for less than we truly deserve. That said, some may still feel trapped in darkness due to Black Moon Lilith’s lingering influence. Her presence throughout Mercury’s retrograde has been particularly intense and agonising for many, and this energy remains active, as she continues her opposition to both the Sun and Chiron. Additionally, Chiron forms a Yod aspect with Jupiter and Vesta, creating a push-pull dynamic of healing and challenge.

In this Yod, Chiron’s sextile to Jupiter offers opportunities for healing through bold action and innovation, but taking advantage of these chances requires considerable effort—something made even more difficult by Black Moon Lilith’s opposition to both the Sun and Chiron. Jupiter and Chiron’s quincunxes to Vesta call for great willpower to reignite inner passion, yet Black Moon Lilith dampens this fire, making it a trying time for those struggling to maintain hope and stamina. The Yod, often called the "Finger of Fate," accelerates energy, which can lead to either burnout or rapid expansion. However, this dynamic can also bring about a Phoenix-like transformation, marking a period of deep personal and spiritual growth.

Adding to this intense cosmic setup, a triple-sided Kite aspect is in motion as Mercury’s post-shadow begins. The central body of this Kite involves Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Juno, and the North Node, signalling a strong sense of order and trust. This configuration fosters a natural flow of creative inspiration, particularly in fields such as law, the military, journalism, commentary, architecture, design, mathematics, leadership, and authority. Additionally, it favours artistic expression, including music, drama, and visual arts.

The specific path of this Kite will depend on external forces—symbolically, the direction of the wind.

  1. First Side: Pluto’s sextile to the North Node, Mercury, and Juno grants tremendous willpower and intellectual depth, fostering profound transformation. While some manipulation may be present, the overall effect is one of significant soul growth for humanity.

  2. Second Side: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and the North Node combine to create a dynamic mix of discipline, inventiveness, and ambition. While Mars and Uranus contribute restlessness and a tendency to push too hard, these aspects are particularly favourable for success in fields like electronic art, music production, broadcasting, and alternative disciplines such as astrology and physics.

  3. Third Side: The South Node’s sextile to Mars and Juno supports commitment to a cause, allowing us to confidently apply the knowledge we already possess with courage and determination.

Ultimately, the energy of the Phoenix is strongly at play during this phase of Mercury’s retrograde cycle. Dramatic highs and lows will occur in rapid succession, with little room for middle ground. The intense planetary alignments will bring about swift emotional, spiritual, mental, and physical shifts, requiring preparation on all fronts. Maintaining a balanced diet and practicing meditation will be valuable tools in navigating this profound and transformative period.

Mercury Post Shadow Ends – April 26 2025 at 9:30 GMT

As Mercury’s retrograde process fully concludes, he returns to 17 degrees Pisces—the exact point where his retrograde journey began.

Mercury’s trine to Mars provides an abundance of mental energy, but with Saturn also trine to Mars, this energy becomes more focused and disciplined. In fact, Mars is part of a Grand Trine influenced by the element of Earth, which brings a grounding effect. While this may not be the best time for groundbreaking scientific theories, it is an excellent period for applying existing scientific knowledge, particularly in trade and machinery. However, discussions and debates surrounding these subjects may be dramatic and forceful in tone.

The Grand Trine involving Mars also includes Venus, Saturn, and Neptune—key players that have been dominant throughout this retrograde process. Although Black Moon Lilith remains in opposition to the Sun, her opposition to Chiron has now faded, easing some of the intense, dark energy that has loomed over this retrograde period. The Grand Trine itself fosters a sense of order, balance, and proportion, making it favorable for fields such as architecture, design, and mathematics. Practicality, justice, and fairness are strongly emphasized, and there is also an enhanced psychic awareness that aids in the much-needed healing process—especially for those who have faced intense or unsettling revelations.

Mars’ trine to Neptune sharpens our ability to sense danger, allowing us to prepare and protect ourselves. This heightened sensitivity also enables us to detect insecurities in others, helping us discern who can truly be trusted. Given the likelihood that covert activities are still unfolding behind the scenes, this aspect serves as a valuable guide in navigating such complexities. Additionally, this alignment suggests that chemistry—particularly in relation to liquid substances—may come into focus at this time.

Juno’s strong influence through her trines with Venus, Saturn, and Neptune enhances our creative flow, allowing inspiration to come with ease. However, Neptune’s influence may lead some to indulge in unrealistic fantasies or “build castles in the sky.” Nevertheless, deep soul connections are likely to emerge during Mercury’s retrograde journey, as crisis points often have a way of bringing people and communities closer together.

It is also important to consider the broader cosmic landscape. Mercury’s retrograde unfolded alongside both a Lunar and Solar Eclipse, as well as Venus’ own retrograde. These overlapping celestial events intensified the collective experience, leading many to seek escapism as a means of self-preservation.
